EXIT 89

Good News Flash!

Add this late-breaking news to your Town Meeting prep: The bids are in for the construction of Phase 3 of Wastewater and well under the $40.5 million in funding that voters approved for Phase 3 construction at Town Meeting last May. (Two of the three bids were substantially under that amount, even when you add in normal project management costs, police details, and construction contingency.)

This means we won't need to vote on Article 26, which asked for an additional $2.5 million in funding “just in case.” And we won’t need to approve a related Proposition 2 ½ override at the polls on May 19. With bid in hand, the Town will be able to move forward with the official “Notice to Proceed” and schedule construction. This is a big HOORAY.

And while you're scratching Article 26 from your Warrant, please use this link to find the most-recent Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) and Capital Budget for Articles 23+24. (The link we gave you in our Preview yesterday was for an older draft.)
